ІІ advanced training course "Environmental journalism in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals"

On June 7-9, 2023, the 2nd refresher course “Environmental journalism within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Department of Print and Electronic Media and the Department of “UNESCO on Sustainable Development”.
The main objectives of the course were: to familiarize students with basic environmental concepts, the essence and features of modern environmental problems (global, regional, local levels); instilling the skills of objective analysis and provision of environmental information; formation of an ecological type of thinking aimed at the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of modern society.
In the process of training, students got acquainted with the basic environmental concepts and innovations in solving environmental problems, acquired the skills to establish relationships between particular phenomena and global processes in the “man-environment” system, mastered professional methods of objective presentation and coverage of environmental information.
As part of the course, lectures and practical classes were held by teachers of KazNU. Al-Farabi, representatives of international organizations and well-known PR specialists. The practical part of the course was a trip to the ecotour, which was devoted to conducting field chemical experiments to identify heavy metal ions in water, air, soil, as well as to familiarize with the problems of accumulation of garbage and waste.
This advanced training course was attended by 40 students, among them: Kazakhstani media representatives, PR specialists, teachers, eco-bloggers, as well as students, undergraduates and doctoral students.
