Scientific Field Seminar at the Almaty State Nature Reserve
On June 28, 2025, a scientific field seminar was held at the Almaty State Nature Reserve for young scientists from the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Xinjiang University (PRC).
The event was attended by lecturers from the UNESCO Department for Sustainable Development, including Candidate of Technical Sciences Bayan Khalelovna Tusupova, as well as the department’s master’s student Nurbike Baizakova, who assisted in coordinating the seminar.
Participants visited the reserve’s nature museum, which features over 3,000 exhibits of the region’s flora and fauna, and then followed an ecological trail to explore the natural features of the specially protected area. During the seminar, issues of biodiversity conservation, scientific monitoring, and protection regimes of natural complexes were discussed.
The seminar served as an important platform for scientific exchange and strengthening the partnership between the two universities in the field of ecology, geography and tourism .
