On the basis of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the XV Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the specialty “6B05202-Ecology” was held on April 20-21, 2023. 24 teams from different regions of Kazakhstan took part in the Olympiad. The event included 2 rounds: “Theoretical tasks” and “Project development”. The team members showed a high level of training, a creative approach to the implementation of scientific projects.
Within the framework of the Olympiad, a leadership lecture was held by the head of the UNESCO UR Department, PhD, Acting prof. Bazarbayeva T.A. on the topic: “Global initiatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the field of sustainable development”, the purpose of which was to popularize UNESCO’s ideas in the field of sustainable development. The main aspects of the UNESCO medium-term strategy program were also considered, which is designed to play a unique role in strengthening the foundations of lasting peace and equitable and sustainable development, developing cooperation in education, science, culture, and environmental protection. This is strategically important at a time when society around the world is facing increasing pressure for change, and international communities are facing new global challenges.
The winners of the Republican Olympiad, who took 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, were awarded diplomas of I, II, III degrees. The winners of the Olympiad were a team from M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, which presented an original project of water purification using moss.
The participants of the Olympiad noted the good organization of the event and expressed their wishes to strengthen further cooperation in the field of science, education and sustainable development between universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
